Hear me, Dionysus, son of Zeus and Semele,
loud-crying one, roaring through the mountains,
twice-born, wandering god of the vine and the mask,
you who loosen care and lift the burden of sorrow.
Bull-horned, ivy-crowned, delighting in the dance,
companion of nymphs, lord of the ecstatic rite,
you who bring both madness and release.
Come, blessed one, gentle in your great joy,
grant a mind free of grief, and a heart open to wonder,
and the sweetness of the vine shared among friends.
